Originally meant for release earlier this year for the Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 2, the game had to take out its more disturbing scenes to avoid being branded by the Entertainment Software Rating Board in North America as "adult only." What got cut? Some of the more gory game options – like mutilating a victim's genitalia with a pair of pliers. Taking advantage of his Nintendo Wii's interactive game play, Saltzman acted out his character's motions. To stab his onscreen victims he actually had to lunge at the television screen. To pummel other characters to death he enacted the wielding of a sledgehammer. "You're actually performing the actions with your hands on Wii. You're actually slashing people with a knife," he says. "It's not my cup of tea.
Top 10 Stories from 2007
The fight over the controversial annexation was another story that made the top 10 in 2006. Yet another thorny issue for the village of Pinehurst this year was all the furor over the proposed traffic roundabout at N.C. 2 and Carolina Vista. A group called Concerned Citizens of Pinehurst formed to fight it. A slate of three candidates, back by the group's political action committee called Preserve and Protect Pinehurst, ran for office in November, and were soundly trounced by voters. The N.C. Department of Transportation, in late November, put the project on hold because of the legal wrangling but said it would proceed with other planned improvements at the nearby intersection of N.C. 2 and N.C. 5. As for the elections, the municipal campaigns in Pinehurst and Southern Pines produced considerable fireworks.

After a few seconds of him scrounging and others huffing impatiently, my fiance asked what the problem was when the clerk answered that the man was unable to pay for the 3 items he wanted and needed to put something back.
