Unity game engine updated for Leopard

Unity Technologies has announced the release of Unity 3D 2.0.1, an updated version of their 3D game design engine for Mac OS X. The free update for registered 2.0 users is ready for download.

The software runs on Mac OS X but enables developers to deploy across multiple platforms, including Mac OS X, Windows and the Web. It incorporates an integrated editor, asset importing, shadow and light support, optimized graphics for both OpenGL and DirectX, terrain modeling, shaders, scripting support, networking, physics, audio and video support and asset management.

New to the 2.0.1 release is support for Mac OS X v10.5 “Leopard," along with some necessary documentation updates that “enhance the documentation for both pre-existing and new features introduced with the initial Unity 2.0 release," according to the developers.


Shrews in logo change

Shrewsbury Town Football Club has launched a new logo which will be used from next season. The new design is in the club's blue and amber colours.

It has been changed on legal advice so the club can better protect its corporate identity ahead of moving to its new £15 million stadium in Oteley Road this summer.

The new look has been designed by Shrewsbury Town season ticket holder Tony Brooks.

Town chief executive Steve Wellbeloved said: "The bottom line is that we have to be able to protect our brand. We can't do that with our current logo, nor with tweaked versions of it that look any good, so we've had to make a decisive change.

"The result is a clear, strong, clean logo. And, crucially, one that has passed all the necessary searches and so is able to be registered in 14 trademark classes - covering a full range of club activities both current and future."

Motorsports Authentics announces partnership with NASCAR artist Sam ...

CONCORD, N.C. (Oct. 10, 2007) Motorsports Authentics announced today a partnership with NASCAR artist Sam Bass that will allow the leader in the design, promotion, marketing and distribution of licensed motorsports merchandise to offer a value-added surprise to Action Racing Collectables (ARC) die-cast and other merchandise and memorabilia.

This worldwide licensing deal will have Bass creating original pieces of art exclusively for use by Motorsports Authentics and the companys top brands such as ARC and Chase Authentics.

Sam Bass is one of the people who make NASCAR the great sport it is today, said Mark Dyer, president and CEO of Motorsports Authentics.
